Just like health, happiness is something we have to work at, with purpose.
The majority of readers here are women (sorry about this for a moment fellas) and we are conditioned to put our happiness last, after we've taken care of everyone else. More often than not, it's never considered, even by us as we are so busy running about trying to fulfil all of our other obligations and look after others.
When was the last time you asked yourself if you are happy? When did you last take some real ME time? We know we should, right? We just can't always fit it in or so we think.
Do you think your horse knows when you are unhappy, stressed or angry? Do you think you behave differently when you are? I know I do. In fact, I didn't ride for months during a period of great stress (divorcing husband #2) about ten years ago because I simply couldn't get my head in a good enough space to share with my horse. Has this ever happened to you? Tell us about it in the comments.
Next time I'm going to talk about one small thing you can do each day to really start to make a difference to just how happy you feel.
